The celebration of the first Universal Forum of Cultures in 2004 turned the cityinto a major centre for dialogue and exhibitions; actions that sought to reachout to other cultures. This event converted another stretch of coastline, addingto the city new beaches and a new marina. It also marked the arrival of DiagonalAvenue to the sea. The most emblematic building of the area is known as theForum. It is a dark blue building designed by Swiss architects Jacques Herzogand Pierre Meuron, and it has a large auditorium and a large exhibition hall. Is now home to the Museu de Ciències Naturals de Barcelona, a journey through the history of life and earth.
