he PobleEspanyol was desingned for the 1929 World Fair, according to an originalidea by Modernist architect Puig i Cadafalch. It is an outdoor museum, a sample of the architecture of Spain. A tour of this great site allows visitors to delve deep into the world of art thanks to its Sculpture Garden and the Fran Daurel ContemporaryArt Foundation. There is also a wide range of shops and restaurants. Inside, you will find reproductions of architecture representing the various different regionsof Spain, since the enclosure was designed as a synthesis of the architecture and craftsmanship of Spain at that time. The building, like many others of the World Fair, was meant to be temporary and demolished after the event but the great popularityit enjoyed meant that it was preserved as a leisure and cultural area.
